TORONTO -- The Maple Leafs signed goaltender Antoine Bibeau to a three-year, entry-level contract on Tuesday. Mike Conley Jersey . Bibeau, Torontos sixth-round pick at No. 172 overall in last years draft, was named the outstanding goaltender of the 2014 MasterCard Memorial Cup. The 20-year-old netminder had a 2.76 goals-against average and .932 save percentage in London for the Val-dOr Foreurs. Before that, Bibeau was the MVP of the QMJHL playoffs, the first goalie to earn that distinction since current Leafs starter Jonathan Bernier. The Victoriaville, Que., native spent last season with Val-dOr and Charlottetown, going 21-18-6 with a 3.17 GAA and .907 save percentage. Bibeau is one of three solid goaltending prospects in the Leafs system, along with late-bloomer Christopher Gibson and 2011 seventh-rounder Garret Sparks. Brandan Wright Jersey .com) - The Toronto Raptors set their sights on a second straight victory with the Oklahoma City Thunder visiting the Air Canada Centre tonight riding a two game streak of their own. Mario Chalmers Jersey .com) - Markus Granlund scored the game-winning goal as the Calgary Flames used an early offensive flurry to defeat the Los Angeles Kings, 2-1, on Monday.PHILADELPHIA -- Playing their fourth game in five nights and missing their leading scorer, the sluggish Nuggets appeared well on their way to their third straight loss. Then they cracked down on defence and found a hot hand off the bench in Jordan Hamilton. Hamilton hit three straight 3-pointers late in the fourth quarter to help Denver overcome a slow start and the absence of Ty Lawson for a 103-92 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night. "Hes been doing that for us. He spaces the floor," Nuggets coach Brian Shaw said of Hamilton. "We finally got some movement when our guards started to attack, their defence started to converge and he found the open windows." The Nuggets (12-8) led by four with 4:28 to go before Hamilton, who finished with 13 points, made three 3s in a span of 67 seconds to push Denvers lead to 11. It came as part of a 15-2 run that turned an 86-all tie into a 101-88 lead for the Nuggets, who held the Sixers (7-14) to 15 points in the final quarter. "We found a way to contain them and force them to take some tough shots, and Jordan caught a little fire," said Andre Miller, who had eight points and seven assists. Nate Robinson led the way with 20 points and J.J. Hickson contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Nuggets, who had dropped their previous two contests. Tony Wroten finished with 20 points for the Sixers, who held a four-point lead at the half. Philadelphia has dropped 10 of 12. "The right run at the right time definitely helps," Evan Turner said. "I thought we had control of the game most of the game." Turner, the Sixers top scorer, failed to reach double-digit points for just the second time this year, finishing with six points on 3-for-12 shooting. Denver dominated from beyond the arc, where it hit seven 3-pointers to the Sixers three, and on the boards, where it won the rebounding battle 52-38. Philadelphia shot just 7 for 20 in the final quarter and didnt even attempt a free throw. "They went on that run, and we came back on offence and we got good looks," Thaddeus Young said. "But it seemed like we ccouldnt knock them down. Bryant Reeves Jersey. " Both teams played without their starting point guards. Lawson, who left Denvers 106-98 loss to the Boston Celtics on Friday, was sidelined with a left hamstring strain. The fifth-year pro leads the Nuggets in scoring (19.3) and assists (8.0). Sixers rookie Michael Carter-Williams spent his third night in the hospital while recovering from an infection on his right knee and missed his second straight game. "Its being monitored closely, but nothing to get too overly concerned with," Philadelphia coach Brett Brown said before the game. Philadelphia is 1-5 this season without Carter-Williams. The Sixers jumped out of the gate quickly on a 10-2 run. Denver took its first lead 23-22 with 1:53 in the first, but Hollis Thompsons 3-pointer with 47 seconds to go sparked Philadelphia to a 27-25 advantage after 12 minutes. The fifth game of a six-game road swing might have taken its toll on the Nuggets, who have been plagued recently with slow starts and trailed after the first quarter for the fifth straight game. Philadelphia played an unusually clean first half in which it turned the ball over just four times to take a 53-49 lead into intermission. One of the leagues worst in turning over the ball, the 76ers entered averaging 18 giveaways per night. Wroten started in Carter-Williams place and led the way at the half with 14 points on 7-for-12 shooting. As a team, the Sixers shot 50 per cent from the floor before halftime. "Tony Wroten was hot," Hamilton said. "They were getting some good looks at the rim. ... Their reserves came in and scored some shots, and we said, Man, we just gotta crack down on these guys. And thats what we did." NOTES: Lawson did not play for the first time this season. The Nuggets were 8-1 last year without Lawson in the lineup. ... The Sixers outscored the Nuggets 64-42 in the paint. ... The 76ers observed a moment of silence prior to the game for South African leader Nelson Mandela, who died Thursday at 95. ... CHARLOTTE, N. Shaquille ONeal Lakers Jersey .C. -- When North Carolina freshman Ryan Switzer reported to training camp in August he was a little miffed to learn he was third on the depth chart at punt returner. "I kind of got mad because when I was getting recruited I was told I going to start at punt return," Switzer said. Rather than pout, the 5-foot-10, 175-pound Switzer went about working even harder to earn the starting job. The 18-year-old not only did that, but capped a memorable season Saturday by returning a punt 86 yards for a touchdown to help North Carolina beat Cincinnati 39-17 for its first Belk Bowl title in four tries. It was Switzers fifth punt return for a TD this season, tying an NCAA record. T.J. Logan returned a kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown, Marquise Williams threw for 171 yards and a score and Romar Morris had two short TD runs as the Tar Heels (7-6) won a bowl game for the first time since 2010. The victory also capped a huge turnaround for the Tar Heels, who started the season 1-5. "Were standing here today because of our coaching staff and our senior leadership," said Switzer, the games MVP. "Those two groups, they didnt let us hang our heads. They didnt let one person walk into the building who wasnt willing to work. We knew we had the talent the ability to turn the season around. We had to have the heart to do it." Said second-year coach Larry Fedora: "At 1-5, nobody thought we would be sitting here today. But these guys kept believing and got it done." Cincinnati (9-4) was looking to become the bowls first back-to-back champion since Virginia did it 10 years ago, but Brendon Kay -- the MVP last year -- was limited to 181 yards passing and no touchdowns. The Tar Heels brought relentless pressure and had five sacks, including one for a safety. "They knew we were missing some starters on the offensive line, and they threw the kitchen sink at us," Cincinnati coach Tommy Tuberville said. "They twisted, they did all kinds of things up front, and our quarterback could never set his feet. He didnt have a chance. ... We expected it, but theres not a lot we could do about it." North Carolina came in having lost its previous three in-state Belk Bowl appearances, but bolted to a 23-3 halftime lead behind a pair of long touchdown drives led by Williams and Logans nifty kickoff return. After Morris scored on a 2-yard run to make it 7-0, Brandon Ellerbe and Kareem Martin sacked Kay in the end zone for a safety -- the first of three sacks in the opening half. On the ensuing kickoff, Logan put the Tar Heels in control by fielding the ball near the left sideline and cutting back up the middle of the field for the score. Williams made it 23-3 in the second quarter, hitting Tabb on a quick slant for a 3-yard touchdown strike. "I thought our defence was just dominating in the first half," Fedora said. Unlike last years Belk Bowl when Cincinnati spotted Duke 17 points and stormed back to win 48-34 behind Kays four touchdown passes, there would be no Bearcats comeback. Switzer turned in another big special teams play in the third quarter when he fielded a punt at his own 14 exploded up the field for an 86-yard TD after several Bearcats overran the punt. "I sold it," Switzer said. "When I caught it they just kind of stood there and I was able to take it and run." The Bearcats reached the end zone on a 15-yard touchdown run by Ralph David Abernathy, but the Tar Heels answered with a methodical 13-play, 65-yard drive, with Morris scoring his second touchdown on a 1-yard plunge to make it 36-10. Fedora said hes excited about North Carolinas future as the school looks to put the memory of NCAA sanctions behind them for good. "We are going in the right direction," Fedora said. "There is a tremendous positive buzz about the Tar Heels in the state of North Carolina." Kay said it was an emotional way to end his career at Cincinnati. "This is not the way (the seniors) wanted to go out, by any means," Kay said. "Its tough. Weve been through a lot this year -- coaching changes, losing a teammate (in a deadly car accident), other ups and downs -- but I wouldnt want to go to war with anybody else but this team, these seniors." NOTES: North Carolina announced that James Hurst, the teams first-team All-ACC senior left tackle, suffered a non-displaced fibula fracture in his left leg. ... Shaq Washington played some quarterback for Cincinnati and scored on a 10-yard touchdown run late in the game. ... Tar Heels punter Tommy Hibbard pinned the Bearcats inside the 20 three times. Nick Van Exel Jersey .Cullen scored the go-ahead goal at 13:47 of the third period and Nashville beat the slumping Dallas Stars 3-2 on Thursday in a game that wasnt decided until the last shot of the night. Cheap LeBron James Lakers Jersey . Englewood, CO (SportsNetwork. Walter Brown Jersey .com) - The Denver Broncos have listed star tight end Julius Thomas as questionable for Sundays key AFC West clash at Kansas City due to a sprained left ankle that kept him out of the teams last game. Thomas, the NFLs leader with 12 touchdown catches this season, was a limited practice participant for a second straight day on Friday. The playmaking tight end was also termed questionable heading into this past Sundays contest against Miami but was inactive. Denver, which owns a one-game edge on the Chiefs for first place in the division, is also uncertain about the availability of top cornerback Aqib Talib, who exited the Miami game with a hamstring injury. Talib practiced some on Friday after sitting out the previous two days and is also termed questionable on the final injury report. Linebacker Brandon Marshall, the Broncos leading tackler, is expected to play after passing the NFL protocol for a concussion he sustained against the Dolphins. Running backs Ronnie Hillman (foot) and Montee Ball (groin) remain sidelined for Denver. C.J. In Arizona, the Cardinals lose Tyrann Mathieu for the year with a ACL and LCL knee injury. Ilya Samsonov Jersey . In Carolina, the Panthers lose Jonathan Stewart with an MCL knee injury. But the most devastating season-ender was Rob Gronkowski and his ACL and MCL knee injury with the New England Patriots. The Patriots will rebound somehow to remain competitive but being competitive and winning in the playoffs are two different tests. Players get injured but for Gronkowski, this is difficult to comprehend and accept. On the positive side, he is a young, fourth-year player and youth and the ability to heal effectively do go together. On the negative, for a young player, Gronkowski has an old body of football battles. Two back surgeries at the University of Arizona, missing his senior year, three arm surgeries over three years with New England and now a major knee surgery that, as we have learned by watching RG3, takes more than six months to recover from. His biggest battle to get back will be that he has to do this on his own and often all alone. Football rehabilitation is not a team sport, it is an individual challenge that you have to look at as a job at which to excel and a time commitment that ends an off-season of enjoyment. Every now and then, I get a streak of jealousy over the amount of money pro football players make and how fast, but then I lose that when I consider how short of a career it is and how fast the injuries can compound. In Cleveland, the most talked about player this week will be Browns defensive back TJ Ward because he is the weapon that took out Gronkowski. Yes, he could have make the tackle higher around the hips but would have probably bounced off the hips and Gronkowski would have made another five yards. Or he could tackled him around the shoulders and been taken for 10 yards trying to wrestle the 66" 260 lbs tight end to the ground. Ward is listed at 510" and 200lbs so it was his only choice to take the legs. If he didnt, he would have been criticized and graded down the next morning in the review of the game. The more negative grades you have, the less significance you have in value. No choice for Ward at that moment in time. Pivotal Discussion I dont know who the best quarterback is in NFL football but of the top four that have won Super Bowls, here is what I think. Tom Brady is the best pressure quarterback in football and has exceptional leadership qualities. What he has been able to do with extreme limitations of time is second to none. With two minutes to go on your own 20-yard line and needing a touchdown, Tom Brady is the best. Peyton Manning is #1 in terms of preparation and in-game adjustment. So many times the best offensive possession for Denver is the first one as that becomes the first points scored in the game. Then as the game moves on, Manning figures it out. What he figures out I am not sure but so many times, the second half is dominated by Denver no matter what has happened in the first half. Nobody can run their offence like Manning. Drew Brees has the best footwork and awareness. Cris Collinsworth showed on Sunday Night Football how Brees goes from one opportunity to another downfield, not only in the game but in the pre-game. Later, it was visually demonstrated how polished and precise his footwork and throwing motion work together. Pocket awareness is having the ability to feel a pass rush but not see it. Some quarterbacks never get it; Brees has mastered it. No one has a better arm or a more relaxed demeanor on the field than Aaron Rodgers. If there is anxiety inside Rodgers in the middle of a game, I dont see it. It amazes me how composed and relaxed he remains from play to play. Confidence yes, ability yes but also a gift of knowing or having the skill to focus on what is important and dismiss what is not in any given moment. And with that gift, he has the most accurate and velocity intense arm. If ARodgers comes back for the Dallas game, everything will change for the Packers. Overall, I pick Aaron Rodgers as my number 1 quarterback. Capital Demise In Washington, you can see the end coming. I dont think players give up on a team, coach or year. The competition for an NFL job is too heavy and everything is on video to be re-evaluated all off-season over and over and over. But I do think players play with different intensity levels depending on weather, opposition, one-on-one competition and free agency. When you give up a run for a touchdown, a pass for a touchdown, a punt for a touchdown and a kick return for a touchdown, there is something deeply wrong. The value of a coach is how the players respond and the Washington Redskins did not. You cant fire 53 players, only the boss. Time To Sit In Denver, I hope the Broncos sit Wes Welker until the playoffs. Within one month, he has been diagnosed with two concussions and both on the same type of pattern, a crossing route in between the hash marks about 10 yards downfield. Thats linebacker territory. Also, I guess the conversation about Peyton Mannings ability to play effectively is cold weather is over. Four touchdowns and 397 yards answered that question against Tennessee . Tough To Watch Finally, the Monday Night Football game was painful to watch for two reasons. First, it was brutally cold and by the fourth quarter, everybody was ready to go home; in the stands, on the field, everybody. Secondly, it was tough to watch the slow but consistent disintegration of the Dallas defence. Salary cap limitations have been a good thing for football as it forces competitive balance but when mismanaged, you see weakness in personnel that is normally depth players who will never be starters. That has caught up to the Cowboys. They can still win the NFC East when they face the Eagles in Philadelphia on December 29, but by no means is it a sure thing based on Monday night. Custom Washington Capitals Jerseys . Mauer struck out to end the inning, with a runner on third base in the seventh on Wednesday and the Twins trailing 1-0. Everybody does this, of course, in a sport with a 30 per cent success rate at the plate long proven to be a benchmark of excellence. Evgeny Kuznetsov Jersey . The 42-ranked Czech saved seven break points while converting his one chance, and defeated the No. 3 seed in 1 hour 46 minutes. Rosol, who lost in the final in Stuttgart against Roberto Bautista Agut on Sunday, awaits the winner between Philipp Kohlschreiber or 2011 champion Gilles Simon. Is Real Salt Lake still the class of the West, or can Seattle or Portland snatch the Conference title away? As Major League Soccer prepares to lift the curtain on another season, TSN.ca presents the second of our five part season preview, taking a look at the American based teams in the Western Conference. Chivas USA In 2013, Chivas USA took their usual spot at the bottom of the Western Conference standings.  In fact, the only year since 2010 where anyone finished behind them was in 2011 when they managed to finish one place ahead of the expansion Vancouver Whitecaps. Former Colorado Rapids assistant coach Wilmer Cabrera will be the latest man charged with bringing chaos to order at Los Angeles second MLS team that very recently also became owned by the league with an eye on a new name and logo. Veteran Midfielder Mauro Rosales will be counted on to create and drive the offence while new defensive acquisition Andrew Jean-Baptiste will hope to improve a defence that easily allowed the most goals last season. As always, Chivas has a long way to go before they are considered contenders for anything, but at least theyve finally taken a positive step in the right direction. Chivas will open the season by welcoming the Chicago Fire to the StubHub Center on March 9th.  They will face their first Canadian opponent in their second game when they host the Vancouver Whitecaps on March 16th. Whos In?: M Mauro Rosales (trade from Seattle), D Andrew Jean-Baptiste (trade from Portland), F Adolfo Bautista (free agent), D Tony Lochhead (free agent), D Andrew Ribeiro (free agent), D Fejiro Okiomah (free agent), D Donny Toia (free agent), M Agustín Pelletieri (free agent), F Luke Moore (free agent), F Eriq Zavaleta (loan from Seattle) Whos Out?: D Mario de Luna  (end of loan from CD Guadalajara), D Jaime Frias (end of loan from CD Guadalajara), M Edgar Mejía (end of loan from CD Guadalajara), F Julio Morales (end of loan from CD Guadalajara), GK Patrick McLain (option declined), D Steve Purdy (option declined), D Daniel Antunez (option declined), M Marvin Iraheta (option declined), M Josue Soto (option declined), F José Manuel Rivera (option declined), F Tristan Bowen (traded to Seattle), D Jorge Villafaña (traded to Portland), M Gabriel Farfan (loaned to Chiapas), M Carlo Chueca (waived), F  Bryan de la Fuente (waived) SuperDraft:  M Thomas McNamara (2-20) Colorado Rapids Pablo Mastroeni enters the season in the rare position of being an interim head coach at the beginning of a campaign.  The team that he inherits, one that he partially played on last season, was one of the surprise stories of 2013, forcing their way into the Western Conference playoffs. Gabriel Torres, the first designated player in franchise history, will be counted on to provide offence along with returning leading scorer Deshorn Brown and Edson Buddle. The Rapids were a team that counted on youth, speed and quick transitions from midfield to forward in order to generate the offence they needed to win games.  If any of their young players take a step back this season they could lose a step themselves, and be on the outside looking in at the Western Conference playoff picture. Colorado opens the season on the road against the New York Red Bulls on March 15th after enjoying a first week bye.  They will play their first Canadian team on April 5th when they travel to BC Place to take on the Vancouver Whitecaps. Whos in?: D/M Marc Burch (Re-Entry Stage 1), M Marvin Chávez (trade from San Jose), GK Joe Nasco (free agent) Whos out?: D Diego Calderón (loan expired), M Jaime Castrillón (option declined), GK Steward Ceus (option declined), M Jamie Smith (option declined), M/D Anthony Wallace (free agent), F Atiba Harris (traded to San Jose), M Jamie Smith (retired), M Tony Cascio (loaned to Houston), M Hendry Thomas (traded to FC Dallas), D Kory Kindle (retired) SuperDraft: M Marlon Hairston (1-12), D Grant Van De Casteele (1-19) FC Dallas In his first year in charge of the team, long time FC Dallas assistant, and most recently head coach of the Colorado Rapids, Oscar Pareja will be charged with getting the Texas based squad back into the playoff conversation. Forward Blas Pérez is the most talented player in the squad and will be the man central to the FC Dallas attack on most nights.  The team has struggled when he has been absent or ineffective so keeping him healthy and in the squad is a major priority for Pareja. Where FC Dallas is going to struggle is on defence, where they have trouble keeping their best players on the field.  If they can keep George John and Walker Zimmerman in one piece throughout the year, that should go a long way to locking down their back line. FC Dallas opens the campaign with their first game against a Canadian based MLS team when they lock up with the Montreal Impact at Toyota Stadium on March 8th. Whos in?: M Ryan Hollingshead (2013 SuperDraft), M Adam Moffat (trade from Seattle), M Brian Span (weighted lottery), M Hendry Thomas (traded from Colorado), F Andrés Escobar (loan from Dynamo Kiev), F David Texeira (transfer from FC Groningen) Whos out?: M David Ferreira (option declined), M Ramon Nuñez (option declined), M Erick (option declined), M Jackson (traded to Toronto), M Victor Ulloa (out of contract), D Ugo Ihemelu (option declined), F Kenny Cooper (traded to Seattle), M Bobby Warshaw (transferred to GIAS), F Bradlee Baladez (waived), GK Kyle Zobeck (waived) SuperDraft: F Tesho Akindele (1-6) Los Angeles Galaxy The two-time defending MLS Cup champions were finally unseated last season when they lost to eventual runner up Real Salt Lake in the opening round of the playoffs. No doubt, the Galaxy return one of the most talented teams in the entire league, with both Robbie Keane and Landon Donovan at the forefront of the attack. With Keane no longer involved in international play and no drama as to when Donovan is going to join the squad, Bruce Arenas team should be able to hit the ground running from the first kick of the season. Sean Franklin is going to be a loss felt in the Galaxy defence, as he was one of the key members on their championship squads but they have depth at every position and will be one of the teams to watch once again this season. The Los Angeles Galaxy will open the 2014 season on March 8th in a battle of the last two Western Conference champions when they host Real Salt Lake at the StubHub Center.  They will play a Canadian team for the first time when they face Vancouver Whitecaps on April 12th. The hiring of head coach Caleb Porter has been credited with turning things around for Portland and if thats the case, his next job will solidifying the squad and proving that their improvement in form was more than just a one season aberration. Canadian midfielder Will Johnson will once again be key to the backbone of the squad and his ability to influence the game in both ends is important to the Timbers overall game plan. Portland opens the season with a pair of home games, including their March 8th debut against the Philadelphia Union.  They will play host to the Vancouver Whitecaps on June 1st, the first Canadian team on their schedule. Assistant coach Jeff Cassar has now taken over the head coaching duties from long time bench boss Jason Kreis who left the club in the offseason to lead 2015 expansion side New York City FC. Cassars job will be to keep one of the older rosters in the league happy and healthy while continuing the great work his predecessor started.  To help him achieve that goal, hell be able to lean captain Kyle Beckerman, striker Alvaro Saborio, Nick Rimando and defender Nat Borchers, all veterans that should be steady for the defending Western Conference champions. Real Salt Lake will open their season against LA Galaxy on March 8th and see their first Canadian action March 29th when they welcome Toronto FC to Rio Tinto Stadium. After earning himself a new deal with a huge season in 2012, he played hurt last year and it showed in his end of the year totals. The continued improvement of Sam Cronin will be important to the Earthquakes regaining their spot as one of the best teams in the West.  They have the talent to compete and it would be a surprise to see them not able to translate that back onto the field. Koval (1-9) Seattle Sounders Despite the acquisition of Clint Dempsey, Seattle Sounders failed to achieve the success they were looking for last season.  They remain one of the leagues most consistent franchises and will once again be in the playoff picture this season. How far they go beyond that will come down to the play of Dempsey and how well he gels with Kenny Cooper and Obafemi Martins as well as the kind of havoc they can create in the opponents third of the field. If the rumours of infighting during the tail end of last season are true and continue, the Sounders could be trending towards the bottom for the first time in franchise history. Seattle opens the season with a pair of home games, including their first Canadian matchup.  They open the season at CenturyLink Field against the defending MLS Cup champion Sporting Kansas City on March 8th and then welcome Toronto FC on March 15th before heading to Montreal to play the Impact on March 22nd. Alex Galchenyuk is closer to returning to the lineup, as head coach Michel Therrien said the Montreal Canadiens forward has been cleared for contact at practice. Jose Reyes Rockies Jersey . However, Therrien added that Galchenyuks status for next Wednesdays game against the Detroit Red Wings is questionable. Galchenyuk has been out since Jan. 6 with a broken right hand. In 44 games with the Canadiens, Galchenyuk has scored 10 goals and added 13 assists. Meanwhile, winger Brandon Prust missed practice on Thursday after leaving Wednesdays skate early. The team said he has an upper body injury and his status is day-to-day. Jason Kipnis Rockies Jersey . As each game passes (each has played close with the exception of last night) it becomes clearer just how evenly matched these two teams are and how one mistake, or one bad inning, is likely to sway the result. Nolan Arenado Jersey . Meusburger won 6-0, 6-2 to avenge their only other previous meeting, which Cabeza Candela won in straight sets in 2012. Meusburger lined up her second straight quarterfinal on tour against Romina Oprandi, after the Swiss player defeated Beatriz Garcia Vidagany of SSpain, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 in a match which saw 13 breaks of serve. Carlos Gonzalez Rockies Jersey. DETROIT -- The Montreal Canadiens started fast and finished strong to overcome a rough patch in between. Kevin Gausman Jersey . Max Pacioretty broke a third-period tie, Tomas Plekanec scored twice and Montreal beat the Detroit Red Wings 5-4 Thursday night. The Canadiens jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and led 3-1 going into the third. But Detroits Tomas Tatar scored twice during a span of 3:06 early in the third period to tie it. Pacioretty restored the Canadiens lead 5:48 into the third and Thomas Vanek added a goal with 8:45 left. "The second and third periods werent good at all. We got lucky that we found a way to win," Plekanec said. Vanek added two assists and David Desharnais had a goal and an assist for Montreal. P.K. Subban had two assists and Carey Price made 26 saves. "It doesnt matter if you win 1-0 or 10-9 at this point. It all adds up the same," Price said. Canadiens coach Michel Therrien praised the line of Desharnais between Vanek and Pacioretty. "They were true leaders the way they played. They were playing all over the ice, they were hungry and did the right things." Tatars goals were his 17th and 18th. Riley Sheahan added a goal and an assist, and Johan Franzen also scored for Detroit. Jimmy Howard stopped 24 shots. "From the start. We werent very good in the first period, starting with myself. We were turning the pucks over all over the ice, we werent skating and we werent working," Red Wings defenceman Niklas Kronwall said. "But in saying that, we were still in the game somehow. Howie (Howard) kept us in there, gave us a chance. "We make it 3-3, then they go up 4-3, 5-3 and we score right away again and its still a game, but all in all we have to be better than this." Franzen brought the Red Wings to within one, 21 seconds after Vaneks goal. It was Franzens 16th goal and broke a nine-game goal-scoring drought. "I thought we played good and had lots of opportunity as far as offensively. We were just poor in our own zone on sort outs, on face-offs, which is just an easy thing to do. So for whatever reason we didnt get that done," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "But my big thing here today is just, as we said earlier, catch-up hockey is losing hockey. Youve got to get prepared, youve got to play right and you have to do it for 60 minutes and be patient. When you start chasing the game like we were tonight anything can happen. Its entertaining and all that for the fans but its not a recipe for success whatsoever." Sheahan put the Red Wings on the board and cut the Canadiens lead to 2-1 with his sixth goal 1:28 into the second period. Desharnais restored Montreals two-goal lead with 8:57 remaining in the middle period on his 14th goal. Plekanecs two goals gave Montreal a 2-0 lead in the first period. He opened the scoring 7:49 into the game, then got his 20th goal with 5:49 left in the opening period. NOTE: Detroit RW Tomas Jurco returned after missing seven games with a broken rib. ... Montreal LW Travis Moen missed his second game with a concussion. ... Red Wings C Pavel Datsyuk, who has missed 13 games with a sore knee, is skating but theres no timetable for his return. ... Detroit C Henrik Zetterberg, who had back surgery on Feb. 21, wont be cleared for contact until April 18-19. ... Pacioretty played college hockey at the University of Michigan. ... ROME - Italy announced Monday that Rome will be a candidate to host the 2024 Olympics, a decision that comes two years after the government scrapped plans to bid for the 2020 Games because of financial reasons. Carmelo Anthony Jersey .The Italian government, together with CONI, is ready to do its part for a project that isnt based on great infrastructures or big dreams but rather great people, Premier Matteo Renzi said at Italian Olympic Committee headquarters. We will be at the vanguard for all the spending controls.Italy, which hosted the 1960 Olympics, planned to bid for the 2020 Games but the project was withdrawn after then-premier Mario Monti refused to provide financial backing at a time of economic crisis. The new bid comes with Italys economy still stagnant and amid a widening corruption scandal in the capital. Our country too often seems hesitant, Renzi said. Its unacceptable not to try ... or to renounce playing the game.Italy has all it needs to face its problems, Renzi added. You cant not dream.Taking into account the cost-cutting measures approved last week by the IOC, the Rome bid is expected to include many of the venues used for the 1960 Games — notably the Foro Italico complex that includes the Stadio Olimpico athletics and football stadium, plus swimming, diving and tennis facilities. The Rome bid could also propose holding several events outside the capital, including sailing in Sardinia and preliminary basketball and volleyball rounds scattered in cities up and down the peninsula. The bid will obviously be centred on Rome, Renzi said. But it will also involve Florence, Naples and Sardinia. ... Were making this bid to win.Italy is the second country to declare its intention to bid. Germany has already announced that it will submit a bid from either Berlin or Hamburg, with the choice to be made in March.France is likely to approve a Paris bid next month, and the U.S. Olympic Committee will make a decision Tuesday on whether to bid. The potential U.S. candidate will be either Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco or Washington.Other possible contenders include Doha, Qatar; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Baku, Azerbaijan; Istanbul, Turkey; Budapest, Hungary; and a city or province in South Africa. The 2024 host will be chosen by the International Olympic Committee in 2017. The deadline for submission of bids to the IOC is September 2015.Rome was the first to announce a bid for the 2020 Games but Monti said in February 2012 that the government would not provide the required financial guarantees for the multi-billion-dollar project. He said it would be an irresponsible use of taxpayer money. Two premiers later, Italy is still mired in recession. Youth employment has topped 40 per cent and government efforts to revive the economy have yet to get the country growing again. The biggest hurdle will be convincing public opinion, Italian IOC member Mario Pescante said. There needs to be transparency. If theres not a consensus its difficult to conduct a battle like this one.The biggest change since Montis rejection, according to Pescante, was the approval last week of IOC President Thomas Bachs reform package, which loosened the bidding rules and allows events to be held outside host cities. The IOC realized it wasnt up to date with the times, Pescante said. And Italy, with cities like Milan, Turin, Venice, and even Sardinia, can compete with anyone in that respect. The bid announcement also comes amid a widening mafia scandal in Rome, which has resulted in nearly 40 arrests in recent weeks and former Mayor Gianni Alemanno being placed under investigation.Phone conversations intercepted by police and published in the media have described how local criminal bosses managed to cement ties with city politicians over lucrative public contracts. The unfolding drama is the latest corruption scandal to hit Italy after a series of arrests earlier this year involving two major public works projects: Milans Expo 2015 worlds fair and Venices Moses project to build sea barriers to protect the lagoon city from flooding.___Associated Press writer Frances DEmilio contributed.___Andrew Dampf can be followed at www.twitter.com/asdampf Kenneth Faried Jersey . -- With Tony Allen back, the Memphis Grizzlies were able to turn up their defence pressure and hold off the Los Angeles Clippers down the stretch. Will Barton Jersey .Y. -- Florida Panthers captain Ed Jovanovski finally has something to show for all the pain he went through in overcoming a string of injuries that kept him sidelined for much of the past two years. The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed goaltender Curtis McElhinney to a one-year contract extension, the team announced Monday. MINNEAPOLIS -- Mike Yeos three-year run in Minnesota has been anything but easy. Dorance Armstrong Jr. Jersey . The Wild coach has had to navigate key injuries to his roster, his own growing pains in his first NHL head coaching job and the considerable expectations brought forth when the teams owner spent nearly $200 million on two players two summers ago. The Wild have improved under Yeo in each season, and Yeo has improved himself enough to earn the faith of the Wild leadership going forward. Yeo signed a multi-year contract extension with the Wild on Saturday, the team announced. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the agreement was expected after Yeo guided the team out of the first round of the playoffs for just the second time in franchise history in the final year of his original deal. He has gone 104-82-26 in three seasons with the Wild. "Mike has done a very good job the last three seasons as our head coach and we look forward to his leadership going forward," Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher said. Yeo was an unproven coach with no NHL head coaching track record to go by when Fletcher picked him to take over for Todd Richards three seasons ago. The Wild faded after a strong start to Yeos first season and never found a rhythm in his second year, an abbreviated 48-game schedule due to the lockout. The Wild did snap a five-season playoff drought in his second season, but were dominated by Chicago in a first-round defeat. His status was tenuous at best by New Years Eve last season, when the Wild lost their sixth straight game and Yeo felt compelled at the next practice to tell the players he wouldnt coach simply to save his job. But despite foot injuries that kept stars Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu and key defenceman Jared Spurgeon out for long stretches of the winter, Yeo helped hold the group together while the wins picked up. The Wild played all season with a carousel in the net, too, with four different goalies starting 10 games each or more. "There were times where the wheels couldve come off, and he kept it together," said defenceman Ryan Suter, one of several players to endorse Yeo after the season-ending loss to Chicago. The Wild solidified his status in the playoffs with a seven-game victory over Colorado in the first round when the Avalanche led 2-0 and 3-2 in the series. They gave the Blackhawks a fight, too, until falling in six games. The late-season surge, and Yeos impressive strategic decisions both rounds of the playoffs, gave Fletcher the faith that he had the right man for the job. "I am very excited to continue to coach the Minnesota Wild and pursue a Stanley Cup for the State of Hockey," Yeo said. "Our fan support has been amazing and it went to a new level during the playoffs this season. We are all motivated to reward them." Jamize Olawale Cowboys Jersey . Kerber will next play Estonias Kaia Kanepi, who beat American qualifier Victoria Duval 6-1, 6-3. In other first-round matches, Lucie Safarova beat 2010 French Open champion Francesca Schiavone 6-4, 6-4 and American Bethanie Mattek-Sands had a 6-4, 6-3 win over Canadas Eugenie Bouchard. Jihad Ward Jersey .com) - Its fair to call Mike McCarthy one of the best coaches in the NFL but its also more than objective to point out that the veteran mentor bookended the Green Bay Packers season with two, truly awful game plans in Seattle.PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Jordan Spieth couldnt see any of the 240 yards to the green on the toughest hole at the TPC Sawgrass. He was in the rough so far right of the 14th fairway that he was closer to a water hazard on No. 12 that he didnt know even existed. His ball was on the back side of a mound. One wrong move could have led to a big number. "Probably the best shot Ive hit here this week," Spieth said Saturday. The contact was perfect. The ball landed about pin-high in a bunker, setting up another par. It was like that all day at The Players Championship. Every time the 20-year-old Texan landed in trouble, he answered with a recovery shot, a chip-and-run, and always a putt that kept him without a bogey through 54 holes and gave him a share of the lead with Martin Kaymer going into the final round. Spieths final act was an escape through the trees on the 18th hole and a 12-foot par putt from the fringe for a 1-under 71. Kaymer missed his par putt from just inside 10 feet on the final hole and had to settle for a 72. They were at 12-under 204, three shots clear of former Players winner Sergio Garcia (69) and John Senden (68). Not since Greg Norman won The Players in 1994 has anyone gone through the opening three rounds without a bogey. Then again, Spieth has shown over the last year that he is capable of remarkable feats. "I didnt play with him the first two days, but there were a couple today where you think its a tough one to save par, and he always pulled it off," Kaymer said. "If it wasnt a brilliant chip, it was a good putt. So its very tough to beat those guys that dont make mistakes. ... Seems like he doesnt make many mistakes." Kaymer wasnt too shabby on the toughest day all week at Sawgrass -- warm, humid, blustery and increasingly frightening. He picked up a pair of birdies on the front nine to build a two-shot lead, only to lost two birdie opportunities on the par 5s on the back nine. Even when he heard a few cheers after missing his par putt on the 18th, which allowed Spieth to share the lead, Kaymer was in a good spot. A former world No. 1 and major champion, Kaymer is trying to end more than two years without winning. "Its very important that you enjoy the day," Kaymer said. "Its a rare opportunity that youre in the leading group one of the biggest tournaments we play all year." For Spieth, who still didnt have a PGA Tour card lastt year, the final group is familiar territory. Terrell Owens Cowboys Jersey. He has contended on the weekend in four tournaments already this year, and only a month ago had a two-shot lead with 11 holes to play in the Masters until he finished in a tie for second behind Bubba Watson. "Augusta left me feeling a little hungry for it again, and here we are," Spieth said. "And I have an opportunity to kind of really draw back on that round and the positives, the negatives and everything in between and go out there tomorrow and try and play the same way I played the first two rounds." Even so, he knows hell have to play better and possibly score better. There were some good bounces -- a soft bounce on a wedge at the 16th that possibly prevented his ball from going into the water -- and some good breaks, such as getting a free drop from a drain in the rough that took pine trees out of his line on the 15th. Spieth repeatedly pumped his fist when his final par putt dropped into the cup, a clutch moment worth celebrating. He now has gone 69 consecutive holes dating to Hilton Head without making a bogey. The question is whether that streak can last as the pressure increases. "I was all over the place," Spieth said. "In order to win, Im going to have to drive the ball better. Today I got the breaks, got the bounces, and made the 3- and 4-footers to stay alive. Im not going to be able to keep doing that." Brantford, Ont., native David Hearn shot a 68 to finish Round 3 in a tie for eighth place. This course gets tougher on the weekend, especially on Sunday. And there were still plenty of players poised to either make a run or be waiting if either of the leaders slip up. Garcia turned a birdie chance into a bogey on the 17th hole by missing a short putt. He did enough right in his round of 69 that he will have another chance to experience the thrills on the back nine of Sawgrass. Along with winning in 2008, he was tied for the lead going to the 17th hole last year until hitting three balls in the water the rest of the way as Tiger Woods went on to win. Senden won at Innisbrook earlier in the year and played the par 5s in 5 under, including an eagle at No. 9. Justin Rose was in the group at 7-under 209 until it was determined after his round that his ball moved slightly before he chipped it on the 18th. That turned his par into a double bogey and he wound up seven shots behind. China Jerseys Wholesale Cheap Jerseys Throwback China NFL Hoodies NFL Jerseys Cheap Cheap NFL Autographed Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Jerseys From China ' ' '
